Prairie Bud & Prairie Pasque 2013-14

Prairie Bud Prairie Pasque Awards

Meade School District's elementary students can help decide the winners of two South Dakota Children's Book Awards: The Prairie Bud and The Prairie Pasque

Purpose: To encourage children to become enthusiastic, discriminating readers.

Participating Organizations: South Dakota Library Association (SDLA); Public Library & Trustee Section of SDLA; School Library & Media Section of SDLA; South Dakota Reading Council; South Dakota State Library; South Dakota Elementary School Principals.
A panel of educators and librarians selected the 15 candidates for each award. Nominated books were chosen for their quality and potential popularity with children.

Who Can Vote: Any South Dakota student in grades K-2 for Prairie Bud and grades 3-5 for Prairie Pasque. To vote, a child must have read or heard at least 5 of the contest books. Each child may vote only once via his/her librarian.

Time Period: The voting deadline is March 31.

Winner: The book award winner will be announced in April during National Library Week.
